Tripuraneni Gopichand was a noted writer and playwright associated with Telugu literature. He was also associated with movies as a film director and editor. As a writer, he contributed in the forms of short stories, novels, essays and plays. His works are noted for materialism, rationalism, existentialism, realism and humanism and includes values and ideas. Also known as a Radical humanist, he was the son of Tripuraneni Ramaswamy, noted social reformer. A postage stamp was released on his th birthday by government of India.
The first psychoanalysis novel in Telugu literature, Asamardhuni Jeevana Yatra was written by none other than Gopichand. It was his second published novel. He is the first winner of Sahitya Akademi Award in Telugu novel category. He won the award in the year for his novel - Panditha Parameshwara Sastry Veelunama. Actor Sai Chand is his son. Tripuraneni Gopichand (8 September – 2 November ) was a Telugu short story writer, novelist, editor, essayist, playwright, film director, and a radical humanist. Gopichand was the son of renowned social reformer and play writer Tripuraneni Ramaswamy. Gopichand, inspired by 's Radical Humanism, became the first state secretary of the Radical Democratic Party (India) Andhra Pradesh. His second novel Asamardhuni Jivayatra (Bungler: A Journey Through Life), was the first psychological novel in Telugu literature. Gopichand was posthumously awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for Pandita Parameswara Sastri Veelunama in , the first Telugu novel to win this award. His novels typically features gloomy, incomplete, unsatisfied and unsatisfying protagonist tortured by a sense of guilt.
His novel "Asamardhuni Jeeva Yatra", is part of the syllabus for APPSC examinations in Telugu literature as an optional subject.
A postal stamp in his honour was released by the Government of India on his th birthday.

Tripuraneni Gopichand(8 September – 2 November ) is an eminent writer, editor, and director in the Telugu film industry. He has also contributed significantly to the literary world through short stories, novels, essays, and plays. He was born to Tripuraneni Ramaswamy- a renowned social reformer and play writer in Angaluru of Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. As a cinematic figure, he has directed a few movies and written dialogues for scripts. Some of his noteworthy works include Priyuralu () (Story, Dialogues, Direction), Perantalu () (Director), Lakshmamma () (Director), Gruhapravesam () (Story).
He is also the writer of the very first psychological novel in Telugu literature namely Asamardhuni Jivayatra (Bungler: A Journey Through Life). His writings tackle the concepts of existentialism, rationalism, humanism, etc. the protagonists of his stories are typically portrayed as discontented and ridden with guilt. After he died in , he was subsequently awarded the Sahitya Akademi award in It was the first Telugu novel to win this award.
