Doreen Cronin (born ) is an American writer of children's books, including Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type, a very well-received picture book illustrated by Betsy Lewin.

Life

Cronin was born in Queens, New York City, and grew up on Long Island. Cronin's first book was published by Simon & Schuster in Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type, a picture book that she wrote and Betsy Lewin illustrated. She completed law school and the book at around the same time. Illustrator Lewin was a runner-up for the annual Caldecott Medal.

Cronin lives in Brooklyn as of with her two children.

INTRODUCTION

Lawyer-turned-author Cronin is the recipient of numerous honors and awards for her best-selling children’s picture books. Her debut children’s book Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type (), illustrated by Betsy Lewin, was named a Caldecott Medal Honor Book. This whimsical story of farm animals who go on strike, proclaiming their demands to Farmer Brown in typewritten notes, was followed by Giggle, Giggle, Quack (), in which the animals make the most of Farmer’s Brown’s week-long vacation. Cronin has been widely praised for her cunning animal protagonists and sense of playfulness in creating laugh-out-loud stories for young readers.
