נעמי שמר, הגברת הראשונה של הזמר העברי, נולדה בקבוצת כנרת שבעמק הירדן בשנת והשאירה אחריה אוצרות גדולים: היא כתבה והלחינה מאות שירי-זמר שרבים מהם הפכו לשירי-עם, לשירי-מחול ואפילו למעין הימנונים. שירהּ "ירושלים של זהב" הוא מן השירים העבריים הידועים ביותר בעולם, וגם השירים "מחר", "לו יהי" ו"על כל אלה" זכו למעמד מיוחד בתרבות הישראלית.
היא זכתה להכרה והוקרה עוד בחייה, קיבלה תארי כבוד מכל המוסדות האקדמיים בארץ, פרסים מרכזיים ובראשם פרס ישראל, ובעיקר נהנתה מאהבת הקהל. נעמי שמר הלכה לעולמה ב, אבל כפי שכתבה באחד משיריה: אחריה שיריה מפכים להם.
נעמי שמר () היתה משוררת ומלחינה ילידת ישראל. היא נולדה וגדלה בקבוצת כנרת להוריה רבקה ומאיר ספיר, מייסדי הקבוצה, זכתה לחינוך מוזיקלי משובח אצל טובי המורים לפסנתר בארץ, ומגיל רך ליוותה בפסנתר את הזמרה של חברי הקבוצה בערבי שבת וחגים. היא המשיכה ללמוד באקדמיה למוזיקה בירושלים, ועם סיום הלימודים חזרה לקבוצה, אז כתבה עבור ילדי הגן את שיריה הראשונים – "שירים מכנרת".
עם נישואיה לגדעון שמר והולדת בִּתה הללי עברה עם משפחתה לתל-אביב, ושיריה של נעמי שמר החלו להתפרסם ולזכות להכרה והצלחה. השירים "זמר נודד", "הופה היי" ו"נועה" סימנו את ראשית דרכה המקצועית. במרוצת השנים הלחינה משיריהם של מיטב משוררי הספרות העברית ובראשם רחל, שאול טשרניחובסקי ונתן אלתרמן, וכתבה נוסחים עבריים לשירים באנגלית ובצרפתית. אך עיקר ייחודה הוא ללא ספק בכתיבת מילים ולחן גם יחד, שהחיבור ביניהם הדוק והרמוני.
שניים משיריה הבולטים זכו למעמד ייחודי בפסקול הישראלי לא רק בשל איכותם אלא גם בשל נסיבות כתיבתם: "ירושלים של זהב" שהושר לראשונה מספר שבועות לפני מלחמת ששת הימים ב והקדים את איחוד העיר, ו"לו יהי" שהפך לסמלה של מלחמת יום הכיפורים (). שירים אחרים כמו "שנינו מאותו הכפר", "על כל אלה" ו"מחר" קנו לעצמם מקום של כבוד במה שהיא עצמה כינתה

Naomi Shemer was an Israeli singer, songwriter and composer known commonly as the “First Lady of Israeli Song.”
Shemer was born on Kvuzat Kinneret on on July 13, , and grew up overlooking the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Many of her songs recreate the landscape that was such a part of her youth and reflect her love of the topography and scenery of Eretz Yisrael. She took piano lessons at an early age and continued her music studies in Jerusalem at the Rubin Academy of Music. Later, she returned to the kibbutz to teach rhythm and to write children's songs. Shemer eventually moved to Tel Aviv, where in she wrote the words to the musical Hamesh-Hamesh (Five-Five), first performed by the IDF Central Command entertainment troupe and later by Haohel Theater.
At this time, she married her first husband, the actor Gideon Shemer, father of her daughter Lali. In , she wrote the words to the first show of the Batzal Yarok troupe.
